Is XXL size 18 or 20?
It depends on the shop, because US stores split the top of the range differently:

So a US women's 18 is XL or 1X, a UK 18 is a L, and a kids' 18 is XXXL. If the label says 18 and nothing else, check which scale the shop uses.

The tag is not chest inches, and the same number is a different letter at different brands. Blackberrys' shirt chart lists the numbers against collar size (44 = 17.5", 46 = 18.5"). The body chest of an Indian XXL is about 47–49" (Jockey India).
XXL size FAQ
What is XXL size in numbers?
For men, XXL (2XL) fits a 48–50 inch (122–127 cm) body chest and a 17.5–18 inch collar at Marks & Spencer, and is tagged 46 (U.S. Polo Assn. India) or 44 (Blackberrys, Monte Carlo) on Indian shirts. For women, XXL is UK 24–26 and US 20–22 on the M&S chart, a bust of about 49.5–51.5 inches.
Is XXL size 18 or 20?
Neither, consistently. Target calls US 17 XXL and 18 1X. Kohl's calls 16–18 XL. Marks & Spencer starts XXL at US 20 (UK 24). For a kids' size, 16 is XXL at Children's Place.
Is XXL 16 or 18 for women?
In UK sizes, neither: UK 16–18 is a L at Marks & Spencer and XXL is UK 24–26. In US sizes, 16 is XL and XXL is 17 at Target or 20–22 at M&S.
Is 44 size XXL for men?
At some brands. 44 is XXL at Blackberrys and Monte Carlo but XL at U.S. Polo Assn. India and Park Avenue. A 44-inch body chest is a L at Marks & Spencer.
Is 42 inches XL or XXL?
Neither. A 42-inch chest is a L (M&S L = 42–44"). XL is about 46" and XXL 48–50".
Is size 40 XL or XXL?
Neither. On an Indian tag 40 is a M (U.S. Polo Assn.) or a L (Blackberrys, Monte Carlo). A 40-inch body chest is a M (M&S M = 38–40").
What number is XL in India?
44 at U.S. Polo Assn. India (L 42, XL 44, XXL 46) and 42 at Blackberrys and Monte Carlo (XL 42, XXL 44).
Is XXL the same as 2X?
No. XXL and 2XL are the same label. 2X is the plus-size scale, cut fuller: Target puts 2X at US 20–22 and Kohl's at 18W–20W.
What is XXL in cm?
About 122–127 cm body chest for men (M&S). Indian XXL shirts measure 124–128 cm as garments (Peter England 124 cm, U.S. Polo Assn. 127 cm).
